My teaching style:
Relaxed and focused on my students’ yoga journey. I want my students to experience time out from the busyness of their lives. I want them to realise that yoga can help tap into some inner stillness and make them become aware of their bodies and minds. Also, that yoga isn’t a mystery and can be done by anyone at any stage of their life.
My yoga story:
About 20 years ago in London I started attending classes were where I worked. After a few classes I wanted more and the teacher recommended some CDs I could use to practice at home. One was Shiva Rea’s Yoga Sanctuary. It had an amazing impact on developing my home practice.
Earliest yoga memory:
Thinking I would never remember the sun salutation.
Mountains or beach:
I love nature full stop. Probably the beach – the power and mystery of the ocean is amazing.
What do you love most about teaching yoga?
I love seeing students immersed in their class and those moments when they realize that yoga is not about touching the toes. I also love meeting all the different people that come to Flourish – it is a very special community.
When I’m not teaching yoga you’ll find me…
Reading about yoga; practicing yoga; on a yoga course (I’m a little obsessed). I also love walking my 2 terriers and cooking a meal for my beautiful husband.
Buying yoga pants – you may have noticed.
My perfect holiday:
It has to be warm. In Australia, I love driving holidays – lots of freedom to stop where you like. I love the cultural experience in Thailand – including lots of massage. Whatever the holiday, good food needs to be involved!
Three words to describe me:
Kind. Caring. Committed.
Oysters would have to be up there. As well as anything that is colorful and nutritious.
Half moon – it feels different every day.
Three things I’m grateful for are…
My beautiful family; living in a safe and wonderful community; the opportunity to teach yoga to wonderful students.
I do yoga because…
Yoga really lets me know that I’m alive – the connection it provides between the mind and body is amazing. And I can buy bright yoga pants…
